Child proofing your house is something all parents think about, but do you also think about your child’s safety when it comes to the windows in your house? This time of the year when we are able to open windows leaves a perfect opportunity for a curious child to climb through and injure themselves. The Las Vegas Review-Journal reminds us all to keep open windows and children in close check:

Be sure to check every window in the house, and make sure the screens are strong and secure. Furniture such as couches, chairs, tables and cabinets should be moved away from windows so a child can’t use them as makeshift ladders to climb out the window openings. The best defense is to install stops that only allow a window to open a few inches.

Bars that cover the window opening could also be installed to prevent any child accidents from happening. And always remember to have the safety measures be easily breeched by an adult should a fire or other emergency arise.
